Adon Olam: Master of the Universe

About 10 years ago, my friend asked me for advice regarding a shidduch. This fellow had written an English rendition of the famous Jewish song Adon Olam and put his singing it at a kumzitz (sing along) to images captured by the Hubble spacecraft. I was blown away. It represented to me fallible praising the unknowing Master of the Universe, which was so perfect. I told her to definitely check this guy out. They have been happily married since. Please check out the youtube video below. You won’t regret it.

Adon Olam asher malach
B’terem chol, y’tzer nevro
Liayt naso, b’chevsochol
Azai Melech sh’mo nikro Adon Olam

Lord of the world. Adon Olam
There was You before all things or anyone
When by Your will the world was made
Master of the universe became your name.

And if this world should disappear
Alone in awesome majesty, You’ll still be here
You were, You are, You’ll always be
There’s nothing but splendiferous eternity.

There is one God, you can’t compare
Or add a thing, (clap) our God is everywhere
With no beginning, and no end,
Such power we cannot begin to comprehend.

O living God, my faithful friend
When trouble comes a rock on Whom I can depend
My miracle, my shelter strong
You fill the cup within my heart with peace and calm.

I place my life into Your palm
My body and my spirit there are safe and strong
Asleep, awake, You’re always near
As long as You are with me I will have no fear.
